TheraSpecs Information for Providers

TheraSpecs are therapeutic blue light glasses that provide relief and protection for people with light sensitivity—making them an effective therapy for migraine, post-concussion syndrome, and any of the numerous other conditions with photophobia as a symptom. This page is for healthcare providers evaluating TheraSpecs for their patients. Please contact us at providers@theraspecs.com if you're looking for other specific information.

TheraSpecs Therapeutic Benefits

TheraSpecs lenses use a precision tint (FL-41) to filter blue light at 480nm, which is the wavelength that research has shown to trigger pain and other symptoms for people with light sensitivity. As a result, TheraSpecs can:

  • Reduce migraine attack frequency by 74 percent1
  • Relieve photophobia brought on by artificial light, LEDs, screen use and/or sunlight2
  • Protect from fluorescent lighting triggers3
  • Lessen other symptoms, such as dizziness, post-concussion headaches and eye strain, that are triggered by light exposure

The Most Effective Tool for Light Sensitivity

TheraSpecs block up to 25 times more blue light at 480nm than typical blue light glasses, whether they have clear or yellow lenses, are another brand of FL-41, or use a generic rose tint.4 That is why TheraSpecs provide more protection and better relief for people with recurring and/or intense sensitivity to light.

What TheraSpecs Look Like

Indoor or outdoor lenses

TheraSpecs are available with either indoor or outdoor lenses. Our indoor lenses are lightly tinted for artificial light protection, while our outdoor lenses are as dark as normal sunglasses and polarized too, but add the additional light filtering for added relief outdoors.

Stylish and protective frames

We offer several different readymade and fashionable frame styles for purchase at theraspecs.com/shop. But stylish frames are only one part of the equation. Unlike other glasses, TheraSpecs’ frame design also maximizes their therapeutic benefit. In fact, many frame styles:

  • Wrap around the face to block non-filtered light from the sides and above
  • Feature large lenses to filter the most direct light
  • Minimize reflections from behind the wearer
  • Are made of lightweight, adjustable, flexible materials to minimize pressure on already-sensitive heads

In addition, patients can send in any frame they like and we can provide therapeutic lenses for those frames. This allows us to create therapeutic frames they cannot get anywhere else.

Their Cost

TheraSpecs pricing varies depending on style, but start at $99. Indoor/outdoor bundles are available at a discount. This pricing is less than similarly high-quality sunglasses and makes TheraSpecs a cost-effective treatment for patients.

Resale pricing is available for selected medical professionals. Contact us using the form below for details.
