TheraSpecs® Contrast Sensitivity Glasses

TheraSpecs filter the high-energy blue light near ultraviolet that the human eye doesn't focus as well as other wavelengths, which may increase your perception of sharpness.

TheraSpecs® make sure you capture life in high definition so you don’t have to miss a single moment. Our yellow-tinted Contrast HEV™ lenses filter high energy visible (HEV) blue light that makes vision less crisp.

If you want more visual sharpness for activities like gaming, computer use, and night driving, OR if you experience eye strain or visual discomfort from bright and artificial lighting, we recommend trying Contrast HEV as part of your light management plan. It is also light enough that it is legal to wear while driving at night in most locations.*

What our customers are saying

quotation mark

When I put on TheraSpecs, it felt comfortable, natural, and relaxing for my eyes as if I wasn't wearing glasses. My eyes didn't feel stressed. There seems to be therapy in the color of the lenses. Yes, I would recommend TheraSpecs.
--Maye, Texas

It took a few minutes for my eyes to adjust to the yellow lens, but once they did, I really noticed how much crisper everything appeared to be. No more squinting at the computer! And when I took them off, it was obvious the amount of blue light they removed. Very impressed!
--Gregory, Arizona

I've been trying to test it out more with games, and I think my eyes felt so much better like usually they feel heavy and have a bit of a stinging sensation...I did notice it calm down a bit.

How Artificial Blue Light May Reduce Visual Contrast

Modern life frequently exposes us to blue light, found in abundance in artificial and digital light sources. This particular light type can lead to several visual difficulties.

For instance, wavelengths in the blue part of the spectrum are more likely to scatter when compared with other wavelengths. As a result, this interferes with how the eye can perceive and distinguish details, potentially making scenes appear fuzzy.2 Another issue is visual discomfort, often experienced as an intrusive glare effect. There are cells in the retina of the eye that can activate this discomfort glare when exposed to blue wavelengths.3

The cumulative effect of these difficulties in processing blue light may further contribute to eye strain because the eyes can’t see things as clearly; this may cause additional visual discomfort and symptoms like headaches, light sensitivity, and more.

This explains why reducing blue light exposure and glare is an important strategy for many people.

TheraSpecs Contrast HEV: Your Blue Light Protector

TheraSpecs Contrast HEV is your protector against screen light and other artificial sources that make it hard to see with crystal clear definition. This lens precisely filters high-energy blue light below 455nm, and it may be a welcome addition to your light management toolkit—especially if you are wanting more visual contrast and comfort in your everyday life. It also comes equipped with anti-reflective coating to cut down on glare that results from bright and blue light.

If greater clarity and a hint of protection from light while driving at night is what you need, Contrast HEV may also serve as a valuable tool in your arsenal. It is light enough to legally wear for nighttime driving activities in most locations,* and—like all TheraSpecs—it features 100% UVA/UVB blocking, anti-glare, and other protective coatings.

TheraSpecs Contrast HEV:

  • Targets problematic blue light below 455nm for optimal visual comfort and contrast
  • Features anti-glare, anti-smudge, anti-scratch coatings for enhanced protection
  • Is great for gaming, avid screen and computer use, night driving, and more!
