Frequently Asked Questions about Sleep
How do Sleep lenses work?
TheraSpecs Sleep lenses are designed to block blue light in the evening—specifically wavelengths below 520nm that can impact melatonin production and disrupt your natural sleep cycle.
By blocking these wavelengths, Sleep helps reduce the effects of nighttime light exposure and is recommended if you struggle to fall asleep, have lower quality or duration of sleep, or experience more fatigue during the day as a result of inadequate sleep.
Do Sleep lenses filter blue light? How does Sleep compare to regular blue light glasses?
Yes, our Sleep lens filters 100% of blue light below 520nm, the wavelengths that can negatively affect your sleep.
With its maximum blue light filtering, Sleep is the most effective lens for cutting out blue light in the evening when compared with clear or nearly-clear blue light glasses, which only focus on near-UV wavelengths. This makes Sleep a great way to counteract late-night light sources such as TV, gaming, or computer/device use, as well as a general exposure to artificial light.
Because TheraSpecs Sleep lenses block so much blue light, they should only be worn in the 2-3 hours before bed. For daytime wear, consider our other options for blue light like FL-Pro, Flex, or Contrast HEV—all of which can be used throughout the day to reduce harsh light.
Like all TheraSpecs lenses, Sleep also blocks 100% UV light and features an anti-reflective coating to further enhance your comfort.
How does Sleep compare to other TheraSpecs lenses?
Sleep is designed specifically for shorter-term wear that supports your bedtime routine. Here’s how it compares to all of our lenses:

Does Sleep come in multiple strengths?
Sleep is available in a single lens strength because it already filters 100% of blue light. If you’re still not sure if Sleep is the right lens for you, our lens assistant can help guide you based on your environment and preferences.
When and where should I wear Sleep?
We recommend wearing Sleep to protect you from artificial blue light in the evening, such as while using your computer or phone, watching TV, gaming, or experiencing any other artificial light exposure.
Sleep lenses should be worn in the 2-3 hours before bedtime. Because they block 100% of blue light, they will noticeably alter color perception and are not intended for all-day wear. Wearing them at other times of day may be less effective or even counterproductive for your natural sleep-wake cycle.
Sleep should not be worn for driving or road use.
Can I get Sleep in my prescription or as readers?
Yes, you can get Sleep lenses with your prescription or with reader correction. (Note: WearOver styles are non-prescription only.) Simply tap/click on your preferred frame style above, choose either "Prescription" or "Reading Glasses" under Lens Correction, and complete the rest of the options before adding to your cart.

You have 60 days for returns or exchanges of all non-custom TheraSpecs, so you can make sure Sleep is the best option for your needs. If you are wanting prescription or reader TheraSpecs, we suggest starting with one of our fully refundable fitover styles.
"TheraSpecs Sleep glasses really help me unwind - shielding out harsh [blue] lighting and ushering in rest. I put them on 2-3 hours before bed as I tidy up around my house, shut my electronics off, sip tea, and read...I love that my glasses are a part of this evening routine."
