That was the subject line of an email sent to us by Russ from West Virginia, and what a story he had to share. Three years ago, Russ was in a car accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury (TBI). This left him with TBI light sensitivity, migraine attacks, and even seizures. He could not even go outside in the sunlight for a few minutes without having to retreat back to the safety of a darkened room.
“I have literally been a prisoner in my own home with blackout curtains and 15 watt bulbs,” he said. “I have dreaded spring and summertime because the sunlight caused migraines so bad that I would be sick for days.”
In a wonderful moment of serendipity, Russ’ daughter learned of TheraSpecs and let him know about the benefit of our precision-tinted lenses for similar patients with TBI. He ended up ordering the Wrap TheraSpecs Combo indoor and outdoor glasses, and within a few days—even hours—of trying TheraSpecs, he could already feel a dramatic change.
“I used to be limited to going outside early in the mornings,” he said. “With your outdoor glasses I can now be outside for up to 30 minutes at a time, and I have not had a light-induced seizure while [wearing them] outdoors.”
TheraSpecs indoor lenses have also provided Russ with meaningful relief. He is now able to open the curtains inside his home and work on a computer without any migraine attacks or seizures. And although he still has some health challenges related to his injury, they are more manageable as a result of wearing TheraSpecs.
“I feel like I have my life back and now have some hope again. I wanted you to personally know what a difference they have made in my life.”
Simply amazing, Russ. Your story and thousands more like it continue to inspire us in our mission to help thousands more with their sensitivity to light. Thank you for sharing your experiences and for being a believer in TheraSpecs.
