TheraSpecs and Insurance, Health Spending Accounts

Written by Hart Shafer on 9th Aug 2016

Two of the questions customers ask most are if TheraSpecs are covered by insurance and if it’s possible to use a health savings account (HSAs) or flexible spending account (FSA). We have good news!

Are TheraSpecs covered by insurance?

Insurance companies often cover TheraSpecs. We cannot bill insurance companies directly, but many of our customers have received reimbursement from their insurer. Every insurance company has different requirements for reimbursement, so it’s best to contact them to find out what you need to submit. Under medical insurance, they most often require an order or prescription from your doctor for TheraSpecs and some sort of detailed invoice from us. Once you find out what the company needs on the invoice, let us know—we’re happy to create documentation that matches their requirements. Your odds of having TheraSpecs covered by medical insurance increase when you are under a doctor’s care for a condition that causes light sensitivity or is triggered by light and your doctor can provide the relevant medical code for that condition.

Vision insurance companies are very likely to cover custom orders with prescription lenses, but our standard styles may be covered through a provision that covers UV-filtering eyewear.

Can I pay for TheraSpecs using my HSA (health savings account) or FSA (flexible spending account)?

Yes in most cases. Simply checkout on our web store and use your HSA/FSA card for payment. If the transaction does not go through, contact your health insurance company or card issuer to ask why it wasn’t authorized. Sometimes companies need to pre-approve new vendors.
