Did you know you may be able to get TheraSpecs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)? TheraSpecs is a registered federal vendor, and many VA facilities have ordered TheraSpecs for veterans. Approval and coverage are determined by your local VA, but if you’re eligible for benefits, TheraSpecs glasses may help you manage light sensitivity from post-concussion syndrome, migraine, or other conditions worsened by light.

TheraSpecs are typically classified as a “sensory aid,” which the VA orders through its Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Services department (often just called “Prosthetics”).

How to get TheraSpecs through the VA

1. Choose your TheraSpecs. Browse our styles and lenses and note the frame, color, and lens you’d like.
2. Talk with your VA provider. Let your VA doctor or health care provider know light affects your condition, and ask them to request TheraSpecs for you through Prosthetics.
3. Bring our letter. Print the letter below and bring it to your appointment. It includes everything your VA needs to find us and place an order.
4. Your VA places the order. Prosthetics orders directly from us online, by phone, or by fax.

What if my VA says they can’t order TheraSpecs?

Each VA facility manages its own purchasing and vendor list, so the process can look a little different from one location to the next. If your doctor or the Prosthetics department tells you they can’t find TheraSpecs or that we aren’t a vendor, these steps often help:

• Ask them to search for our legal business name. In federal systems we’re listed as Antelope Works LLC dba TheraSpecs, so a search for “TheraSpecs” alone may come up empty. Our CAGE code (7LDF6) and Unique Entity ID (JB1QTLWNB8R8) can also help them find us.
• Ask whether your facility needs to add us as a local vendor. Some VA locations have their own vendor paperwork that must be completed before they can place an order. If that’s the case, have them email us at contact@theraspecs.com and we’ll fill it out.
• If you need prescription lenses, consider a WearOver style. Coverage for prescription eyewear can work differently at some VA facilities. If your VA already provides your prescription glasses, our WearOver styles fit comfortably over them, so you can get the benefits of TheraSpecs lenses without needing a prescription order.
