Did you know that you can receive TheraSpecs as part of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)? It’s true! Our company is a vendor of the VA health system, which provides benefit services—in the form of disability compensation, health care, education and training, and much more—to nearly 10 million* enrolled veterans. So if you are eligible for benefits through the VA, you can acquire TheraSpecs glasses to help minimize the negative effects of post-concussion syndrome, migraine, and other chronic conditions that are worsened by light.
TheraSpecs fall under the category of “sensory aids,” specifically prescription optics and low-vision devices, which are approved and procured through the Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Services department of the VA. As far as we are aware, most (if not all) durable goods ordered on behalf of veterans go through the local prosthetics department and/or its representative.
What is the best way to get access to TheraSpecs through the VA?
If you believe light is primary trigger for your condition or otherwise affects you negatively, we recommend speaking with your local VA doctor and asking them to place an order for TheraSpecs on your behalf through the prosthetics department and/or its representative(s). A Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) code often makes ordering faster and easier, so it may be valuable to pass along the TheraSpecs code: 7LDF6. And, as always, continue to work with your VA doctor following all the standard protocols that you would for any care you may need.
We have also included these instructions that you can easily print out at home and give to your doctor during your next appointment.
TheraSpecs orders can be placed online at theraspecs.com, over the phone by calling 1-844-276-6843 (toll free), or by faxing your order to (602) 218-4497.
It truly is an honor and privilege to be able to provide our eyewear products to those who have served in our country’s military, and we hope you can take advantage of them through the VA. And if we’ve missed anything about the process, let us know in the comments!
