Does Sleep filter blue light?
Yes, our Sleep lens filters 100% of blue light below 520nm. These are the wavelengths that have been shown to inhibit melatonin production and disrupt circadian rhythms, both of which can negatively impact your sleep.
Like all TheraSpecs lenses, Sleep also blocks 100% UV light and features an anti-glare coating to further enhance your comfort.
When and where should I wear Sleep?
You should only wear Sleep for a few hours before you go to bed to maximize its benefits. This is because Sleep removes the blue light that impacts melatonin production, which may affect how tired or alert you feel if worn at other times. This enhanced filtering in the blue spectrum will also impact your ability to perceive the color blue.
Sleep should not be worn for driving or road use.
How does Sleep compare to typical blue light glasses?
With its maximum blue light filtering, Sleep is the most effective lens for cutting out blue light in the evening when compared with clear- or nearly-clear blue light glasses, which only focus on near-UV wavelengths.
