Choosing Your Best TheraSpecs Style (Part 2): Frame Protection

Written by Greg Bullock on 27th Dec 2016

In the second installment of our blog series, we explore the protectiveness of TheraSpecs lenses and frames in order to help you identify which style might be most effective for you.

Which TheraSpecs frames provide the most protection?

Every pair of TheraSpecs glasses comes with our precision-tinted lenses which filter the harmful light that can trigger or worsen many  light-sensitive conditions. But we also designed the frames to maximize the benefit of our lenses. As a result, many TheraSpecs styles wrap around the sides and extend up and down to reduce the amount of light that sneaks in past the lens.

Wraparound protection is one of the standout features of many TheraSpecs styles because it helps stop light from entering from the sides. This can be a major concern for those with light sensitivity, so we made sure to incorporate it into the design of our glasses. For instance, the lenses in our Wrap, Petite Wrap, Stella, Pilot and Haven curve around the sides to offer significant peripheral shielding. The Original WearOver style, which is intended to fit over existing prescription eyewear, has its own form of peripheral protection with the addition of side lenses.

In addition, the lens height allows not only for coverage against direct light but also above and below the frame; styles with greater heights (Pilot, Classic) rely on their lens size for this type of protection while others (Wrap, Original WearOver, Stella) have pronounced ridges to yield similar benefit. However, the fit of a particular frame can be just as good an indicator of protection, if not better. For example, our  Haven style typically fits on or underneath the brow ridge for most people and therefore can provide good overall coverage.

Since fit and feel varies by customer, we offer a generous 60-day money-back guarantee on all standard frame styles (with non prescription lenses)—if you are not completely happy with your TheraSpecs, you can return them for a refund or exchange them for a different frame. We encourage you to check out the sizing table below to see which style might have the optimal blend of lens protection.
