TheraSpecs Contrast HEV Styles

Man Wearing TheraSpecs Contrast HEV Lenses

Sharper contrast for a fresh view

Contrast HEV™ helps you see the world in higher definition. By filtering the high-energy visible light below 455nm that our eyes don’t focus well, this lightly tinted yellow lens brings greater visual contrast and sharpness for your favorite activities. If screens or bright lights give you visual discomfort, we suggest making Contrast HEV part of your light management toolkit.

Contrast HEV is also light enough that it is legal to wear while driving at night in most jurisdictions under safe conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions about Contrast HEV

How do Contrast HEV lenses work?

Contrast HEV lenses filter high-energy visible light in the blue spectrum (455nm and below), which can enhance visual contrast and make it more comfortable for your eyes to focus.

By targeting these wavelengths, Contrast HEV helps you see more clearly in environments with screens, bright lighting, or while driving at night.

Does Contrast HEV filter blue light? How does Contrast HEV compare to regular blue light glasses?

Yes, Contrast HEV filters blue light—specifically the highest energy wavelengths in the blue spectrum (455nm and below). Unlike typical blue light glasses with clear or nearly-clear lenses, Contrast HEV filters a broader portion of blue light and contrast-reducing wavelengths. This makes it a stronger option for activities like working on screens, watching TV, or gaming.

Like all TheraSpecs lenses, Contrast HEV also blocks 100% UV light and features an anti-reflective coating to further enhance your visual comfort.

How does Contrast HEV compare to other TheraSpecs lenses?

We recommend Contrast HEV if you’re regularly exposed to blue light from screens or bright environments and want improved clarity, visual definition, and comfort. It can also be worn for night driving if you’re looking for enhanced contrast. Here’s how it compares to all of our lenses:

Can I wear Contrast HEV while driving at night?

Yes, Contrast HEV can be a helpful option on the road at night if you’re looking for improved clarity and contrast. It is light enough that it is legal to wear while driving at night in most jurisdictions under safe conditions. Always check your local laws before driving with tinted lenses.

If you experience sensitivity to headlights or other bright lighting while driving at night, try Flex instead.

When should I wear Contrast HEV lenses? Can I wear them outside?

Contrast HEV is ideal for situations where you want improved visual clarity and contrast—such as working on screens, watching TV, gaming, or driving at night. It can be worn indoors or outdoors, and provides full UV protection. However, Contrast HEV is not designed specifically for bright sunlight.

If you are light sensitive and want even more protection against artificial light, consider FL-Pro or FL-Blend.

If your main concern is sunlight sensitivity, a darker and polarized lens like FL-Sun may be a better option.

Can I get Contrast HEV in my prescription or as readers?

Yes, you can get Contrast HEV lenses with your prescription or with reader correction. (Note: WearOver styles are non-prescription only.) Simply tap/click on your preferred frame style above, choose either "Prescription" or "Reading Glasses" under Lens Correction, and complete the rest of the options before adding to your cart.
